This Week in Kentucky Football: July 26-Aug. 1 ESPN will broadcast UK and Indiana
Indiana Game Selected by ESPN: Kentucky’s Sept. 18 game atIndiana has been selected for live telecast by ESPN. Kickoff has beenmoved to 11:10 a.m. EST in Bloomington (12:10 p.m. EDT in Lexington).
This is the second UK game of the 1999 season that has beenselected by ESPN. Kentucky’s Nov. 4 game at Mississippi State also willbe televised by ESPN.
Players in Summer School, Workouts: The eight-week summer schoolsession began June 10. The majority of the players are in Lexingtonduring the eight-week session in order to work out in the weight room,work summer jobs, and/or take summer school classes. The eight-weekperiod ends on August 5.
Mumme On the Road: On Tue. July 27, Coach Hal Mumme will be inFort Worth, Texas, for a luncheon with the Dallas-Fort Worth UK AlumniClub. On Wed. July 28, Mumme will be speaking at a coaching clinic inLittle Rock, Ark. On Thurs. July 29, Mumme will meet the media at theannual SEC Football Media Days in Birmingham. Senior linebacker JeffSnedegar and senior halfback Anthony White also will represent UK at themedia event.
2000 Football Schedule Released: The Kentucky football schedulefor the 2000 season continues in the pattern of recent seasons – eightSoutheastern Conference games, along with non-conference rivalsLouisville and Indiana, plus a new non-conference opponent. There are two changes in the schedule. Ole Miss replacesArkansas as the rotating league opponent. South Florida, which ismoving up to Division I-A, replaces Connecticut on the non-conferenceportion of the schedule.

Commonwealth Stadium Construction Update: The aluminum seatingis approximately 95 percent complete. Wall framing and drywall work onthe suites has been completed. Interior work on the suites (cabinets,counters, sinks, etc.) has begun. Both scoreboards and video boardshave been installed. Preparation work has begun for laying asphalt onthe lower concourse.
Both ends of Commonwealth Stadium are being enclosed. Theproject will add about 10,000 seats, bringing capacity to approximately68,000. Up to $27.6 million may be spent on the stadium expansion.
Watch the Stadium Construction: Fans may view photographs of thestadium expansion on the internet site www.uky.edu/stadium. A camerahas been mounted in the press box and is pointed toward the west(Nicholasville Road) end zone. Photographs are updated every fiveminutes.
