  • A new stadium expansion.
  • A new offensive line.
  • A new ?go-to guy? at wide receiver.
  • A new kick returner.
  • A new quarterback.

There will be plenty of changes with the University of Kentucky football team in the coming season.

On the Cover: Halfback Anthony White and linebacker Jeff Snedegar are leaders of the 1999 Wildcats.

Fortunately, however, not everything will be new. Several familiar faces return on UK?s up-and-coming defense as defensive coordinator Mike Major has patiently constructed a unit built around speed, quickness, and a thirst for the big play.

?The Next Mission? for Kentucky football is for the defense to continue its progress while Coach Hal Mumme develops replacements for the ?98 offense that generated more yards and more points than any team in school history.

One part of the mission is accomplished already – the selling of season tickets. Even though the expanded stadium adds 10,000 seats, the extra tickets were quickly snapped up by an eager public that is captivated by Mumme?s exciting style of football.

Having played in the Outback Bowl last season – Kentucky?s first New Year?s Day appearance in 47 years – the Wildcats now have their sights set on consecutive bowl appearances for the first time since 1983-84.
