LEXINGTON, Kty. – The Cincinnati Stuff, a member of the new International Basketball League,drafted former Kentucky Wildcat basketball player Allen Edwards with itsthird pick in the inaugural IBL draft on Monday. The IBL consists of teamsbased in large metropolitan areas that do not have NBA teams.

Edwards joins ex-Cat Wayne Turner on the team, who was chosen earlier thismonth in the territorial draft.

Edwards was a four-year letterwinner at UK. He averaged 9.2 points a gamefor UK?s 1998 championship team and spent last year with the CBA?s RockfordLightning and the IBA?s Dakota Wizards.

“(The IBL is) a league for guys who don?t get drafted right away and areone step from the League,” Edwards said. “Being here in Cincinnati, I canalso work on finishing my degree.”

Turner was the starting point guard for the 1997 national runners-up and1998 national champions. He was named the MVP of both the 1998 SECTournament and the 1998 NCAA South Region. He holds the NCAA record forgames played and ranks first at UK in steals and fourth in assists.

The Stuff will play in the Firstar Center, formerly the Crown. Cincinnatiis coached by former Indiana player and Wyoming head coach Joby Wright.

“We looked at players who represented our territory well,” Wright said.”We feel very good about the players we got.”

IBL players make between $20,000 and $100,000 per season.

Along with Edwards, Cincinnati also selected Devin Davis (MiamiUniversity), Erik Martin (Cincinnati), Chris Kingsbury (Iowa), RoderickBlakeney (South Carolina State) and Damon Flint (Cincinnati) in Monday?sdraft.

Joining Turner in the territorial draft were Melvin Levett (Cincinnati),Evan Eschmeyer (Northwestern), Lee Nailon (Texas Christian) and DamonFrierson (Miami).
