LEXINGTON, Ky. — University of Kentucky men’s soccer player Brent Rainey has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week.
Rainey, a sophomore midfielder from Louisville, registered both goals in Kentucky’s 2-0 MAC win over Northern Illinois on Sunday. Rainey needed only two shots to net the goals as Kentucky clinched the No. 2 seed for this week’s MAC Tournament with the win.
With Rainey’s help, the Wildcats have improved to 11-8 overall and finished as regular-season MAC runners-up with a 7-1 conference mark.
The Cats begin postseason action on Friday when Eastern Michigan (4-14, 1-7 MAC) travels to the UK Soccer Complex for the MAC Tournament. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
