BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-The men’s tennis team split a pair of matches at the Indiana Winter Invitational, as the Wildcats defeated Southern Illinois-Carbondale 7-0 then fell to the host school, Indiana, 5-2 Saturday. UK won the doubles point against SIU-Carbondale on Friday and swept the singles competition Saturday with Marcus Fluitt leading the way for the Wildcats, defeating SIU’s Mick Smyth, 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Carlos Drada and newcomer Edo Bawono had straight set victories over Indiana’s Scott Lippitt and Gabriel Montilla but the Wildcats dropped their remaining matches to the Hoosiers. The tournament continues Sunday.
