ATHENS, Ga.-Two Wildcats provisionally qualified for the Universityof Kentucky men,s and women’s track and field squads as they ran wild at theUniversity of Georgia,s Spec Towns Invitational Saturday.

Ola Sesay provisionally qualified in the long jump with her first-place leapof 20 feet, ten inches. Valerie Williams finished second with her mark of 19feet, 5.75 inches. Williams later returned to claim the top spot in the triplejump with her leap of 40 feet, 11.75 inches.

The second Wildcat to provisionally qualify was Lutisha Shittu in the100-meter hurdles. Shittu finished second with a time of 13.69 seconds in a windaided performance. Shonnishia Johnson and Sesay finished third and fourth withrespective times of 13.79 and 13.84 seconds.

Another Wildcat highlight included the 400-meter dash sweep of TeniquaBroughton, Hazel Hanson-Monnie and Falana Greenwell. Broghton claimed the toptime with her 56.56 second performance. Hanson-Monnie edged out Greenwell forsecond place with her 57.46 second time to Greenwell,s mark of 57.98 seconds.

Indoor All-American Roshell Russell turned in a solid performance in the200-meter dash with her second place time of 23.63 seconds.

On the men’s squad, Christopher Daniel,s first place showing of 15 feet,five inches in the pole vault was a high mark for the UK team.

Jeffrey Ellis claimed the other UK individual crown for the men,s squad withhis 52.30 second performance in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles.

Indoor All-American Andrew Channer turned in a solid showing of 24 feet,seven inches to finish second in the long jump and Dwight Phillips ran toanother second place showing for the Wildcats with his time of 21.15 seconds inthe 200-meter dash.
