The University of Kentucky gymnastics team (5-6, 0-4 SoutheasternConference) fell to the defending national champion, No. 1 GeorgiaBulldogs, 197.075 to 195.275 in its final home meet of the season. UK’sfinal team score was a season high for the Kats.
UK senior Shawnte Hall set a collegiate-high 9.875 on floor exercise inher final home meet. Freshman Jessie Lemp had an impressive evening,finishing fourth in all-around with a season-high 38.925.Junior Krissy Hoeferlin took third in all-around with a 39.150. SeniorMisty Marinik finished fourth on balance beam with a 9.800 in her finalhome meet as a GymKat.
“I felt good about our performance going into this SEC contest,” CoachLeah Little said. “We have been improving our routines every week and Ithink that really showed tonight. We are nearing the end of the regularseason and I like where our team is right now.”
The GymKats are back in action on Sunday, March 7 at 2 p.m. PST when theyparticipate in the UCLA Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif. Other teamsparticipating in the meet include No.17 UCLA, California-Berkeley andMichigan State.
