OXFORD, Miss. – The Kentucky Wildcats (5-13, 1-5 SEC) lost a heartbreaker to Ole Miss (12-11, 4-2 SEC) today, dropping their third consecutive game in a 3-2 defeat.

The Rebels scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning off junior pitcher Nathan Kent. A lead-off single followed by a walk put men on first and second with no outs. The runs scored on an error by second baseman Austin Madison and a wild pitch by Kent.

The Wildcats opened the fourth inning with with two runs. Right fielder Breck Price walked and designated hitter Vince Harrison singled. The runners advanced on an error by Ole Miss right fielder Michael Rosamond who misplayed third baseman Kyle Hookers single. Left fielder Will Crumbaugh and shortstop Andy Green drove in the only two runs of the afternoon for Kentucky, tying the game, 2-2.

The eighth inning proved to be UKs downfall once again. A lead-off double to right field by pinch hitter Glen Morris and a walk to second baseman Brad Henderson opened the inning for the Rebels. Morris scored on third baseman J.T. Harrisons RBI double to give Ole Miss the game, 3-2.

Kentucky returns to action Tuesday, March 23, against Georgetown College at Cliff Hagan Stadium in Lexington. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
