FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The University of Kentucky Lady Kats finished their first tournament of the spring season with an eighth place showing at the Ben Hogan Women’s Intercollegiate Golf Tournament Sunday.

UK shot 311 to finish two strokes behind seventh place Washington State and 36 strokes behind team champion Georgia. No. 1 ranked Arizona finished 10th, six strokes behind the Lady Kats.

Katy Loy – the Lady Kat’s top performer – recorded her second top-10 finish of the year when she shot a final round of 78 to finish tied for seventh place in the individual competition.

Auburn’s Robin Cook scorched the field on the final day when with an even-par round of 72 to steal medalist honors from second-round leader Laura Henderson of Georgia. Cook finished with a three-round total of 224 strokes to Henderson’s 225.

Other UK performances were Julie Palmer’s final round of 77 placing her tied for 12th place, Heather Kraus’ 74 placing her tied for 32nd and Jenny Dugan’s 84 placing her tied for 47th place. Not being accounted into the UK team total, Jenny Throgmorton finished her third collegiate tournament with a 69th place showing.
