LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team will participate in its final regular season tournament this weekend, May 2-3, at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich..

“We are going to be competing against the ‘Who’s Who’ in golf for our district,” Coach Steve Smitha said. “It would be nice to do well considering this is our last trip of the year.”

It will also be the last regular season event for seniors and four-year lettermen Mike Cassity and Ryan Loghry. This season, Cassity has competed in eight tournaments; Loghry has played in seven.

Also representing UK are juniors Jeremy Langley and Chris Mueller and sophomore Wes Furnish. Furnish is the only member of the team to compete in all nine events this season. He has a team-low stroke average of 74.67 and a low round of 70.

The Michigan course is a par 71 and plays to 6,700 yards. The 18-team field, which includes all 11 Big Ten teams, features Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Toledo and Wisconsin.
