BUFFALO, N.Y.- The University of Kentucky wrapped up its outdoor track and field season Friday, June 5, at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Buffalo.
Kentucky had three student-athletes competing in Friday’s events. The Wildcats were led by Shonna Johnson’s performance in the semifinals of the women’s 100-meter hurdles. The junior finished tenth with a time of 13.47. Johnson was edged by UCLA’s Joanna Hayes by only .06. That was enough to deny Johnson a berth in the event finals on Saturday.
Matt Kavanaugh finished 13th in the men’s hammer throw finals. The sophomore recorded a mark of 209,11″.
Ola Sesay competed in the women’s triple jump. Sesay, who earned All-American honors in the long jump on Wednesday, finished in 20th place. The freshman recorded a mark of 11.72-meters.
