University of Kentucky women’s tennis team seniors Kelly Brown, MassoumehEmami and Christy Sigurski celebrated Senior Day at the Boone Tennis Centeron Sunday by leading the Cats to a convincing 5-1 over the Auburn Tigers.

After being honored in a pre-match ceremony, all three seniors took thecourts and dominated their opponents, claiming straight-set victories.Emami bested 72nd-ranked Andrea Piski, 7-6, 6-3, at No. 1 singles, whileSigurski blasted Simone Jardin 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. Brown grabbed awin at No. 3, topping Lucy Altman 6-4, 6-2. Brooke Skeen and ShannonStafford also picked up wins for the Cats.

With the win, UK improves to 13-8, 6-5 in the Southeastern Conference, andfinishes sixth in the SEC, its highest conference finish since 1994.

The Cats next travel to Baton Rouge, La., to play in the SEC Tournament,April 22-25, where they will again face the Auburn Tigers in first-roundaction on Thursday.
