The 18th-ranked University of Kentucky women’s tennis team came up shortin its bid to upset No. 13 Notre Dame on Sunday, falling 5-4 at the HilaryJ. Boone Tennis Center.

The Cats fell behind 4-1, but rallied to tie the score at 4-4 beforefalling in the day’s final match. Kelly Brown and Shannon Stafford pickedup singles wins for UK, and the tandems Brown and Massoumeh Emami andChristy Sigurski and Brooke Skeen grabbed doubles wins.

With the win, Notre Dame improves to 12-6, while UK falls to 9-6.

The Cats return to the court on Thursday, April 1, when the LSU Tigersvisit Lexington for a dual match at noon.
