GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Kentucky track and field team ended the first day of the56th Annual Coca-Cola Florida Relays with ten athletes finishing in the topfive of their events and five athletes capturing first-place titles.In the 4×100-meter relay, the Kentucky women finished in first place with atime of 46.02.
In the long jump, Valerie Williams and Shevan Threats finished in first andsecond place, respectively. Williams leaped 19 feet, 10.75 inches, whileThreats jumped 19-05.5. Threats also finished fourth in the triple jump,leaping 38-02.75.
In other field events, Beth Burkett finished in fifth place in the javelinthrow, throwing the apparatus 135-10.
In other running events, Jennifer Kehoe and Brad Beiber both placed fifthin their respective 5,000-meter runs with times of 17:39.06 and 15:10.91.
The competition resumes Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the Percy BeardTrack Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.
