The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team received the No. 2 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships, the NCAA announced Wednesday. The East Region will be played at Virginia Tech. The 23rd-ranked Wildcats (14-8, 5-8 SEC) face No. 37 Maryland on Friday, May 15, at 4 p.m. UK defeated the Terrapins 6-1 in a match at home on Feb. 22. Maryland finished the regular season with 12-10 record and advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament. William & Mary is the East’s No. 1 seed, while Virginia Commonwealth and Harvard are the third and fourth seeds, respectively. Harvard faces Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth faces Virginia, and William & Mary will play Richmond.
Play begins Friday, May 15, at 8:30 a.m. The championship match takes place Sunday, May 17, at 1 p.m.
