LEXINGTON, Ky. – The NCAA has honored University of Kentucky diver Beth Leake, naming her the 1998 NCAA Woman of the Year for the state of Kentucky.
Leake, an All-America diver from 1994-98, finished her undergraduate work in December with honors. She entered UK’s Master of Business Administration program this spring and maintains a 4.0 GPA. A four-time Academic All-American, Leake is just the second UK swimmer or diver to be honored with this award. UK’s Tina Johnson claimed the award in 1996. As Kentucky’s Woman of the Year, Leake is now a nominee for the national NCAA Woman of the Year award. From the state winners, 10 finalists will be named early next month. The 1998 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced during a dinner honoring the nominees on October 18 in Indianapolis.
