ATHENS, Ga. — Junior right-hander Zack Frachiseur tossed a six-hitter, striking out eight, and Georgia scored eight runs in the seventh inning to rout Kentucky 12-3 Friday night at Foley Field in Athens, Ga. Frachiseur (5-4) allowed only two runs in eight innings. Georgia (22-17, 8-11) put the game out of reach with eight runs on nine hits in the seventh, extending its lead to 12-2. The Bulldogs began the inning with six straight hits, three off UK starter Matt Borne. Borne allowed 10 hits and seven earned runs in seven plus innings before giving way to reliever Jon Hooker. Hooker was unable to tame the Georgia bats, giving up five hits and five runs in two-thirds of an inning.
Junior Josh Loggins put Kentucky (15-24, 5-14) up 1-0 in the fourth inning with a solo homer to center field, the first hit of the game for the Wildcats. It was Loggins ninth homer of the season. Georgias Robby Hammock answered with a solo home run of his own to left field, tying the game at 1-1. Andy Osbolt followed one batter later with his 17th home run of the season, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. The lead didnt last long as UK tied the game at 2-2 thanks to a RBI double by junior Justin Bunch, scoring Andy Bendix from first. Georgia regained the lead, 3-2, in the fifth with a RBI single by Josh Hudson. Osbolt increased the lead to 4-2 with his second solo homer of the game.
UK added its final run in the ninth inning on a pinch-hit RBI double by freshman Beau Moore. Catcher Josh Loggins led the Wildcats with two hits. Andy Osbolt and Josh Hudson had three hits apiece for the Bulldogs. The series continues on Saturday at 4 p.m.
