GAINSVILLE, Fla.-The University of Kentucky men’s golf team finished 12th in the final day of competition at Floirda’s Barnett Bank Gator Invitational on Sunday.
UK sophomore Wes Furnish, who was tied for 28th place with teammate junior Chris Mueller after two rounds, fell in the individual standings to tie for 51st with a score of
71-75-80-226. Meuller tied for 28th place leading the Wildcats with a score of 72-74-74-220. The top individual of the tournament was Florida Southern’s Jeff Klauk, 70-65-71-206.
The Gator Invitational field included SEC rivals: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana State, Mississippi, South Carolina, and non-conference opponents, Alabama-Birmingham, Augusta, Central Florida, South Florida, North Florida, Ohio State, Florida Southern and South Alabama. The tournament took place at the 6,300 yards par 70 University of Florida golf course.
The Wildcats will not see action again until they return to Lakeland, Fla. on March 6-8 to compete against Florida Southern.
