LEXINGTON, Ky. – Breck Price and Aaron McGlone each had two hits on theafternoon to extend their four and five game hitting streaks, respectively,but Kentucky was unable to defeat Illinois, losing their seventh game ofthe season, 15-7.

Illinois’ bats were blazing as the Fighting Illini jumped out to an earlylead, scoring five runs on three hits in the top of the first inning.Illinois added another three runs in the second off starting pitcher NathanKent (0-2), before UK was able to make a dent in the lead.

Kentucky scored in the bottom of the second after Breck Price led off theinning with a stand-up double. Beau Moore drove in the run with his singleand later scored on Jeff Meade’s first home run of the season.

Illinois’ bats remained hot as they added another two runs in the thirdand one run in the fourth inning to increase the lead, 11-2. Kentuckyscored in the fifth inning on Breck Price’s second double of the afternoon. In the sixth inning, the Wildcats manufactured two more runs on Beau Mooreand Andy Green’s doubles to make the score 11-5.

Kentucky stayed strong until the end of the game, adding two runs in thebottom of the ninth. Breck Price drove in two more runs with his third homerun of the season, but the Wildcats lost the game, 15-7.

In the second match-up of the afternoon, Illinois dealt Indiana theirfirst loss of the season, as the Fighting Illini beat the Hoosiers, 16-10.The marathon game featured 19 walks and 12 strikeouts in all three hoursand thirty-nine minutes of play.

The Wildcats return to action Sunday, March 7, at 1 p.m. as they faceIndiana for the final game of this weekend’s three team play-around.
