LEXINGTON, Kty. – No. 23 Arkansas scored all 17 of its runs in three different innings and David Walling threw a complete game six-hitter as the Razorbacks beat Kentucky 17-1 Friday evening at Cliff Hagan Stadium on the UK campus. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Wildcats.

Walling (9-2) struck out 10 batters in his second complete game of the season. Third baseman Eric Hinske hit two home runs, including a grand slam in the ninth inning, and finished with a career-high eight RBIs to lead the Razorbacks.

Hinske got the Razorbacks rolling in the first inning with a three-run homer off UK starter Matt Borne. After Borne walked Rodney Nye, Brian Kirby hit a line drive two-run homer to right field. Jack Welsh added a two-run single to finish the seven-run inning. Borne (2-5) allowed five hits and all seven runs in two-thirds of an inning.

UKs Ben Shaffar replaced Borne and allowed only one hit in 1.1 scoreless innings. Sophomore Patrick Mahan gave up two hits and three runs in 2.1 innings. Freshman Bradd Heyerly pitched the final 4.2 innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs. Arkansas (30-13, 10-9) increased its lead to 11-0 in the fifth with four runs on three hits. The Razorbacks bats stayed silent until the ninth inning when they added six runs highlighted by Hinskes grand slam.

UK (19-25, 7-15) avoided the shutout in the ninth with a RBI double by Andy Green. Sophomore Aaron McGlone went 2-for-4, extending his hitting streak to nine games. Senior catcher Jason Pasero had two hits, including his fourth double of the season. Josh Loggins extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a double. The series resumes on Saturday at 5 p.m.
