The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team shut out cross-town rival Transylvania, 5-0, in UK’s last preseason tune-up on Sunday.

Emily Oetjen and Carrie Staber each scored first-half goals, putting UK on top 2-0.

Staber struck again after intermission, with Jen McMaster and Melinda Buemi rounding out the scoring for UK.

Transylvania managed only one shot for the game, while Kentucky took 18 shots.

UK opens its regular season on Friday, Sept. 4, at the UK Soccer Complex against Xavier. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
