OXFORD, Miss. – The 15th-ranked University of Kentucky men’s tennis team fell to the sixth-ranked Ole Miss Rebels 4-3, Monday. The Rebels started the competition by taking the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. UK sophomore Carlos Drada and freshman Edo Bawono defeated UM’s James Shortall and Barry Hassell at the No. 3 spot, 8-5. Kentucky stepped up in the singles matches with victories by seniors Cedric Kauffmann, Marcus Fluitt and Dan Spaner.

Since their first meeting in 1928, UK has 22-10 record over Mississippi. The Wildcats have been on the road for the last six matches and have pulled out an 3-3 record for the trip, which brings their current overall record to 14-7, and 2-4 in the SEC. They will return home to play Vanderbilt on Wednesday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center.
