Women's Gymnastics

March 20, 1998

The University of Kentucky women’s gymnastics team (4-6, 2-3) travels to Baton Rouge, La. to compete in the 1998 Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Championship meet Saturday.

Kentucky finished fifth at the 1997 SEC Championships with a season-high score of 195.075. The GymKats did not have a meet this past weekend and received much-needed rest following a rash of injuries, including season-ending problems for Krissy Hoeferlin (dislocated left elbow) and Lori Freeman (strained ligaments in upper back and neck). Kentucky, with a 2-3 conference mark this year, bettered last season’s 1-4 league record. Eighth-ranked Louisiana State will serve as host for the event. The meet will take place on LSU’s campus in the Pete Maravich Assembly Hall at 7 p.m. on Saturday. This marks the 18th year that the SEC will crown a team champion in gymnastics.

Highlights of the 1998 SEC Championship meet will be uplinked Saturday, March 21 from 9:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. (CT) on Galaxy 4, Transponder 10, Band C.
