FRANKLIN, Ind. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team is in sixth place after two rounds at the Legends Intercollegiate Invitational in Franklin, Ind.

UK struggled in the opening round and stood in 16th place after carding a first-round team total of 303. The Wildcats rallied in the second round, lowering their team score by 17 strokes to a 286 and finishing with a two-round total of 589.

Kentucky currently stands tied with Penn State in sixth place. Toledo leads the tournament with a two-round total of 557. Leading the UK charge is Jeremy Langley, who carded a one-under-par 143 for the opening two rounds. Langley is tied for 11th place and is five shots off the lead. Wes Furnish is one shot behind Langley and is tied for 15th with an even-par 144.

UK’s Chris Mueller and Ron Layman are both tied for 49th with two-round totals of 15, while Ryan Rieckhoff is one shot back with a 152 and stands tied for 59th.

Tim Rice of Toledo leads the event with a six-under-par 138. The 54-hole tournament concludes tomorrow, with the final round set to tee off at 7:45 a.m.
