The University of Kentucky Athletics Association has announced the hiringof Jaime Gordon as the new assistant volleyball coach.
Gordon comes to UK from West Virginia Wesleyan College where he was thehead volleyball coach for three years. Before his three-year stint inBuckhannon, W. Va., Gordon served as a volunteer assistant coach for the UKprogram from 1993-94.
“I feel really good about him joining our staff for various reasons,” UKhead coach Jona Braden said. “He’s a UK grad and he cares deeply about theprogram and its future, which can only bring positives.”Gordon will be the recruiting coordinator for the UK volleyball team. Onthe court, he will primarily be working with the UK middle blockers and theWildcats’ play at the net.
“It feels to good to be back,” Gordon said. “I’ve got a good coaching staffto work with in Jona and Reita (Clanton). These are two of the hardestworking coaches that I have been around.”
In 1994, Gordon served as the head volleyball coach for ThoroughbredVolleyball, an 18-year-old elite Junior Olympic team. As the headvolleyball coach at Henry Clay High School in 1995, he guided the team toits first appearance in the state tournament.
