PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – University of Kentucky’s squad of Mark Miller, Tom Johnsson, Jeff Ellis and Dwight Phillips finished first in the 4×400-meter relay Saturday. The foursome ran the 1,600-meters in three minutes, 7.82 seconds to claim the top spot in the consolation heat.
In the 4×800-meter relay championships, the team of Alan Beymer, Jack Morgan, Jeff Ellis and Jeff Limpert finished ninth with their time of seven minutes, 31.19 seconds. Georgetown out kicked Stanford for the top spot. Wildcat Matt Kavanagh’s hammer throw of 201 feet, five inches in the championship bracket claimed him fifth place, while teammate Jamie Shannon threw for 185 feet, six inches in the consolation round.
