The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will play host to South Carolina on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum. The Wildcats (10-12, 3-7) look to capture their second win in February after defeating Auburn 53-48 on Wednesday. The Lady Gamecocks (10-12, 2-9) look to bounce back after falling to No. 24 Georgia 80-61 last week. UK is 12-6 all-time against USC and 6-2 in Lexington. The Lady Gamecocks return all five starters from a squad that went 12-15 overall last season. Forward Annie Lester leads USC in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 17.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Last season the Lady Gamecocks defeated the Wildcats 68-59 in Columbia in the teams first matchup on Jan. 29. UK then took revenge on Feb. 22, defeating USC, 76-52 in Lexington. This season, the Lady Gamecocks are under the new direction of former West Virginia coach Susan Walvius. Serving two seasons with the Mountaineers, Walvius led WVU to their first winning season in five years with a 19-12 record last year.

USC has not defeated UK in Lexington since the 1995-96 season when they won 85-67.
