University of Kentucky catcher John Wilson has been named to the 1999 USABaseball National Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

Wilson, who just completed his sophomore season at UK, will be one of 22players representing the United States throughout the summer in variouscompetitions including the US West Red, White and Blue Tour and the annualUSA vs. Japan series.

After smacking a school-record 23 home runs during the 1999 season, Wilsonwasted little time in getting on track for the national team, crushing around-tripper for the US squad in its 18-2 win over Mexico late Monday inTucson, Ariz.

Wilson is just the second Wildcat to make the US National Team, joiningfellow Cat Chad Green, who made the squad in 1996.
