TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- Four different players scored for the University of Kentucky women’s soccer team as the Cats defeated Ole Miss 4-1 on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament. Forward Carrie Staber opened the scoring for UK (9-7-3) only four minutes into the match, when she put in a shot off an assist from Suzie Ledzianowski. Ledzianowksi scored a goal of her own just eight minutes later off a Staber assist.
UK’s next goal came at the 47:52 mark, when midfielder Jen Reese put the Cats up 3-0. Sarah Wong put the Rebels (9-7-2) on the board four minutes later.UK’s Jaime Dellbringge closed out the scoring at the 81:19 mark, giving the Cats the 4-1victory.
“We played one of our best organized matches of the year,” UK coach Warren Lipka said. “We look forward to the next challenge tomorrow afternoon.” The Wildcats now face the fourth-ranked Florida Gators (19-1) at 5 p.m. on Friday in the SEC semifinals. Florida shut out South Carolina 6-0 in the first match of the SEC Tournament.
