GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Kentucky women’s swimming team registered a pair of second-place finishes at the 1998 Southeastern Conference Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday.

Freshman Melissa Olson finished second in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:11.39, while Rachel Komisarz was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly with a mark of 53.82. Komisarz also turned in a third-place showing in the 200 freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:48.64.

Todd DeSorbo was the top finisher for the UK men on Friday, placing 10th in the 400 individual medley with a time of 3:57.02. David Tweedie, Andy Nicholson, Brian Plitnick and Nat Lewis teamed to give UK a sixth-place showing in the 800 freestyle relay, finishing with a time of 6:41.33.

The UK women are currently in fourth place with 352.5 points after three days of competition, while the UK men are currently seventh with 202.0 points.

The 1998 SEC Championships conclude on Sunday.
