LEXINGTON, Kty. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will travel to Starkville, Miss., on Sunday, Feb. 14 to take on Mississippi State at 3 p.m. in its last regular season Southeastern Conference road game. The Wildcats (16-8, 6-6 SEC) look to continue their two-game win streak after upsetting No. 8 Georgia (80-76) last Sunday and defeating South Carolina (78-76) at the buzzer on Thursday. The Cats need one more SEC win to record their most regular season conference wins in school history. Last season the Cats defeated the Lady Bulldogs (13-9, 5-7 SEC) in regular season action, 71-62, in Memorial Coliseum. UK then fell to MSU, 67-48, in the first round of the SEC tournament, snapping a 10-game win streak over the Lady ‘Dogs.
“Mississippi State is a good team and playing on the road in this conference is difficult,” UK Coach Bernadette Mattox said. “We are going to have to play solid defense and hit the boards on Sunday in order to come home with the win.”
UK has won the last four meeting versus MSU in Starkville. The Cats lead the overall series with MSU 13-9 and are 3-4 in SEC road games this season. Wildcat fans can listen to a broadcast of Sunday’s game on WLXG-AM Sports Radio 1300 with Chris Cross calling the play-by-play.
