NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The 20th-ranked University of Kentucky women’stennisteam came up short in its bid to reach the NCAA Tennis Championships Sweet 16,falling 5-0 to host Vanderbilt at the Currey Tennis Center on Sunday, May 16,in second-round tournament action.
The 13th-ranked Commodores claimed wins in the first five singles toclinch the win and advance to next weekend’s Sweet 16 in Gainesville, Fla.,where they will face host and top-seed Florida in the third round.
With the win, Vandy improves to 20-8, while UK finishes the season at15-10.
UK’s Massoumeh Emami will now move on to the NCAA SinglesChampionships,and Emami and Kelly Brown will battle in the NCAA Doubles Championships laterthis month in Gainesville.
