INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Kentucky indoor track and field teams concluded their season with four Wildcats participating in the NCAA Championships Saturday.

Roshell Russell led the way for the Wildcats with her sixth place showing in the women’s 400-meter run. Her time of 54.30 seconds in the finals was a season-best performance. Texas’ Suzianne Reid ran away from the field with her time of 52.57 seconds.

In the women’s long jump, Ola Sesay and Valerie Williams finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Sesay’s leap of 19 feet, 10.75 inches edged out fellow Wildcat Williams, jump of 19 feet, 9 inches. Pittsburgh’s Trecia Smith claimed the top spot with her performance of 21 feet, 6.25 inches.

Williams faulted in the women’s triple jump. Andrew Channer, the only member of the men’s track and field team to qualify for the championships, finished eighth in the long jump competition with his jump of 24 feet, 7.25 inches. Iowa’s Bashir Yamini claimed the championship with his performance of 26 feet, quarter inch.
