The University of Kentucky womens soccer team was defeated by Alabama, 1-0, in its first Southeastern Conference match-up of the season on Friday night at the UK Soccer Complex.

After a scoreless first half, Alabamas Christine Miller landed a shot off a corner kick in the 74th minute. Despite 21 shots on goal for the game, the Wildcats were unable to put one in the net. With the loss, UK falls to 1-1-1 (0-1-0 SEC), while Alabama improves to 1-3-0 (1-0-0 SEC).

The Cats next see action on Sunday, Sept. 13. Kentucky kicks off against Auburn at home at 1:30 p.m. in a game that will be televised live on Fox Sports South.

Sunday will be Nike Day, and anyone wearing anything by Nike, containing the word Nike or the swoosh gets in the game for only $1. Any fan with a UK-EKU football ticket stub also gets in for $1. In addition, the first 50 UK students get free UK soccer t-shirts.
