Kentucky Women’s Basketball Coach Bernadette Mattox Quotes on NCAA Tournament Bid

On the NCAA Tournament bid:

“It’s been a dream for our players to have the opportunity to really make a run in the NCAA Tournament. Obviously, all of the hard work and the sacrifices our players made have paid off.”

On being a No. 6 seed

“I really felt like we’d be a six or seven (seed). We finished strong, played one of the toughest schedules in the nation and had a good RPI rating. Obviously the committee took that into consideration. We would have loved to play a home game, but we’ve been on the road all season. Half the time we just keep our bags packed.”

On playing Nebraska and Paul Sanderford:

“Coach Sanderford does a super job. They were in the Top 25 for most of the year, and we got to see them in Hawaii earlier this year. We’re a better team now and I’m sure they’ve gotten better, so it will probably be two different teams.”
