BALTIMORE, Md. – The University of Kentucky women’s doubles duo of Massoumeh Emami and Kelly Brown have advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Clay Court Championships.
Emami and Brown, the nation’s sixth-ranked doubles team, downed the 14th-ranked tandem of Nora Sauska and Alice Rangsithienchai of Minnesota, 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday.
The two will return to action Friday, when they face Marianna Eberle and Krista Frey of Mississippi at 2:30 p.m.
The Cats also continued singles competition in the consolation bracket, with Brown claiming a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Melissa Pine of Washington State, while UK’s Shannon Stafford was eliminated 6-3, 6-1, by Sara Bourwell of Houston.
