LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team crushed the Louisville LadyCardinals, 8-1, at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center on Friday, snapping athree-match losing streak.
The 18th-ranked Cats (9-5, 3-4 SEC) rebounded from losses to Ohio State,No. 1 Florida and No. 3 Georgia by dominating the Cards (11-3, 0-0 C-USA).
The Cats opened the match by sweeping the singles matches, dropping onlyone set in six matches. In the evening’s closest match, UK’s CarolinaMayorga topped UL’s Nadia Karpol, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3, at No. 2 singles. The Wildcats’ Shannon Stafford clinched the match for the Cats at No. 6singles, besting Kelly Whitler, 7-6 (2), 6-3.
The Cats return to the court on Sunday, March 28, when they take on No. 13Notre Dame in an 11 a.m. dual match at the Boone Tennis Center on the UKcampus.
