HONOLULU, Hawaii – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team relied on a 13-point first half lead to defeat Louisville, 73-62, in the 20th Annual Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii on Friday.

The Wildcats, who extended their winning streak to four, led the Cardinals by as many as 22 points in the first half with the help of senior Jaye Barnes’ 13 points and sophomore Laura Meadow’s 12 first half points.

The Cards (1-3) cut the lead to seven points with 13 minutes remaining in the game when Lexington native Erica Jackson sank a three-pointer to pull the Cats back up by double digits. UK outrebounded Louisville 46 to 36

Three Wildcats scored in double figures as Barnes led the way with 21. Meadows followed with 16 and Tiffany Wait added 15 points.

Sharon Bellamy and Roscelle Bullock led the way for Louisville with 13 points apiece. The Cats will face the winner of Hawaii and Illinois State on Friday, Nov. 28 at 1:20 HST.
