LEXINGTON, Kty. (AP) – Nazr Mohammed scored 16 points to lead five Kentuckyplayers in double figures and the eighth-ranked Wildcats pulled away to an85-74 victory over Georgia on Sunday.

Georgia (14-12, 6-8 Southeastern Conference) shot 54 percent (15-of-28) inbuilding a 43-36 halftime lead, but shot only 19 percent (6-of-32) over thefinal 20 minutes, rushing shots against Kentucky’s fullcourt pressure. TheBulldogs finished shooting 35 percent (21-of-60).

Heshimu Evans finished with 15 points, Allen Edwards had 13, Jeff Sheppard11 and Scott Padgett 10 for Kentucky (24-4, 12-2), which shot 55 percent(36-of-66).

Mohammed also pulled down 11 rebounds in recording his eighth double-doubleof the season and giving Kentucky a decisive 47-30 advantage on the boards.

Edwards scored on a rebound basket to break a 58-58 tie, and Saul Smith andPadgett followed with fast-break layups to give Kentucky a 64-58 lead with 6:51left.

Georgia, which had a four-game winning streak, got no closer than 67-62 onJumaine Jones’ 3-pointer from the top of the key with 4:56 left. The Bulldogsmissed their next four shots.

Kentucky countered with Wayne Turner’s driving layup, Mohammed’s three-pointplay and Evans’ layup and three-point play off a drive to go up 78-62 with 2:27to go.

Jones led Georgia with 21 points, followed by G.G. Smith with 19 and LarryBrown 13. The Bulldogs were 23-of-28 from the free throw line.

Sheppard, Edwards and Turner each hit 3-pointers to spark a 13-2 run andgive Kentucky a 15-9 lead with 14:34 remaining in the half. But Georgia didn’tfold and scored 12 straight points – Smith had seven – to lead 25-17 fourminutes later.

Edwards’ rebound basket sliced Georgia’s lead to 34-32 with 4:30 left, butthe Bulldogs closed the half with a 9-4 run to take the seven-point lead.
