He ranked fifth nationally in kickoff returns with a 29.3-yard average. He is the leading pass receiver in Southeastern Conference history with 208 catches. He owns two SEC records and 19 school records in the categories of pass receiving, kick returns, and all-purpose yardage.
Yeast was a semifinalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award (nation’s top receiver), a third-team All-American, and a consensus first-team All-SEC pick.
Yeast is the 23rd player in Kentucky history to play in the Senior Bowl. This is the second year in a row for the Wildcats to have a wide receiver in the Senior Bowl as Kio Sanford played last year.
Comstock Set for the Hula Bowl: Kentucky senior offensive tackle Kris Comstock will play for the South team in the Hula Bowl on Sun. Jan. 24 in Hawaii. The game will be televised by ESPN at 4 p.m. EST. Comstock was a three-year starter for the Wildcats. His blocking helped Kentucky rank second in the nation in passing offense, third in total offense, and eighth in scoring offense during the 1998 season. Kentucky ranked second in the SEC in sack-prevention ratio, protecting the quarterback at a rate of 95.5 percent. Comstock was a first-team All-SEC selection by The Associated Press and Birmingham News and a second-team all-league choice by SEC coaches. Comstock already has played in one all-star game. Comstock and UK defensive tackle Mark Jacobs played for the victorious Team Florida in the inaugural All-Star Gridiron Classic on Sat. Jan. 16 in Orlando, Fla.
Comstock is the 23rd player in Kentucky history to play in the Hula Bowl. The last Wildcat to participate in the Hula Bowl was running back Mark Higgs following the 1997 season.
