WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis doubles tandem of Christy Sigurski and Brooke Skeen has reached the finals at the Rolex Region II Indoor Tennis Tournament.

Sigurski and Skeen defeated the nation’s 45th-ranked team of Celine Regnier and Leigh Eichelberger of South Carolina 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-3, to reach Monday’s final. The duo will face 24th-ranked Kathy Sell and Megan Miller of Duke at 9 a.m. for the championship and a berth in the Rolex National Indoor Championships to be held later this month.

In singles, UK had two players reach the semifinals in what coach Mark Guilbeau called “an expectation-raising performance.” Sigurski topped 27th-ranked Kristin Sanderson of Duke 7-6 (3), 6-3 to reach the semifinal, where she fell to Duke’s 92nd-ranked Karen Goldstein 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-1.

Massoumeh Emami ousted 82nd-ranked Janet Bergman of Wake Forest 7-5, 7-6 (3) before falling to 47th-ranked Mariel Verban of Wake 6-0, 6-3.
