Coaches Recruiting: The Kentucky coaching staff resumes recruiting activities this week.

Looking ahead to next week, the Wildcats coaches will be attending theannual American Football Coaches Association convention, which runs Jan.10-14 in Nashville, Tenn.

Players On Semester Break: The Wildcats football players are enjoying thelast week of the semester break period. The players will return toLexington next week for registration. Classes begin on Wed. Jan. 13.

Yeast to Play in the Senior Bowl: Kentucky senior wide receiver CraigYeast has accepted an invitation to play in the Delchamps Senior Bowl. TheSenior Bowl will be played on Sat. Jan. 23 in Mobile, Ala. The game willbe telecast by WTBS at 2:30 p.m. EST.

During the 1998 season, Yeast caught 85 passes for 1,311 yards and 14touchdowns. He ranked fifth nationally in kickoff returns with a 29.3-yardaverage. He is the leading pass receiver in Southeastern Conferencehistory with 208 catches. He owns two SEC records and 19 school records incategories of pass receiving, kick returns, and all-purpose yardage.

Yeast was a semifinalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award (nation’s topreceiver), a third-team All-American, and a consensus first-team All-SEC pick.

Comstock Set for Two All-Star Games: Kentucky senior offensive tackle KrisComstock has accepted invitations to play in a pair of post-season all-stargames, the All-Star Gridiron Classic and the Hula Bowl.

The All-Star Gridiron Classic will be played on Sat. Jan. 16 in Orlando,Fla. Comstock, a native of Apopka, Fla., will play for “Team Florida”against “Team USA.” The game will be televised by ESPN2 and is set for a 1p.m. kickoff.

The Hula Bowl will be played on Sun. Jan. 24 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Comstock was a three-year starter for the Wildcats. His blocking helpedKentucky rank second in the nation in passing offense, third in totaloffense, and eighth in scoring offense. Kentucky ranked second in the SECin sack-prevention ratio, protecting the quarterback at a rate of 95.5percent. Comstock was a first-team All-SEC selection by The AssociatedPress and Birmingham News and a second-team all-league choice by SEC coaches.

Couch Announcement to Come This Week: Kentucky junior quarterback TimCouch is in the process of making a decision whether to return for hissenior season or forego his final year of eligibility and enter theNational Football League draft. Couch must decide by Fri. Jan. 8, which isthe deadline date for declaring for the NFL draft. No announcement or newsconference has been set.
