LEXINGTON, Kty. — Two University of Kentucky men’s tennis team members and the entire women’s tennis squad have been honored for academic achievements by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Patrik Johansson, a senior finance major from Halmstad, Sweden, and Keith Mauriello, a senior economics major from Atlanta, Ga., were named Division I Scholar-Athletes by the ITA earlier this week. To be eligible for this honor, an individual must be a junior or senior varsity letterwinner and carry a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The 1997-98 University of Kentucky women’s tennis team was also honored, as the ITA recognized the squad as an All-Academic Team. For this award, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better. Members of UK’s squad were: Kelly Brown, Massoumeh Emami, Lori Hemerl, Kathy Herring, Caroline Kirk, Christy Sigurski and Brooke Skeen.
