The Division I men’s tennis subcommittee has selected the University of Kentucky to compete in the NCAA regionals to be held at UK’s Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center on May 15-17.
No. 21 Kentucky, the No. 4 seed, will face No. 27 Alabama, the fifth seeded team, on Friday, May 15 at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, May 16 at 4 p.m. UK is led by senior Cedric Kauffmann, who holds an overall season record of 32-14 and is currently ranked fifth in the nation for singles. Kauffmann remained in the top-10 singles rankings his entire senior season. He was recognized as a three-time All SEC First-Team member and named a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member last month by the Southeastern Conference. Other teams competing in the tournament are Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, South Alabama, South Florida and Tulane. Eight regionals will be conducted May 15-17 with the winner of each regional advancing to the finals. The finals will be conducted May 23-31 at the University of Georgia.
