The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team placed five members on the Southeastern Conference Women’s Tennis Academic Honor Roll, the SEC announced Wednesday. The Wildcats’ five honorees was the second-highest total among the schools, topped only by Mississippi’s six.

Senior Kathy Herring, UK’s No. 2 singles player, has a 3.37 grade point average in kinesiology. Junior Christy Sigurski, who plays at No. 4 singles and makes up half of UK’s No. 2 doubles team, has a 3.593 GPA in marketing. Sophomore Lori Heimerl, a pre-finance major, made the honor roll with a 3.847 GPA.

Each member of UK’s 22nd-ranked doubles team was also named to the honor roll. Massoumeh Emami, a junior majoring in communications, has a 3.43 GPA. Emami also plays at No. 1 singles for the Wildcats. Kelly Brown, who also plays in the No. 2 singles position, is a junior with a 3.46 major in marketing.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must: 1) have a 3.0 GPA for either the past year or for her career; 2) be a sophomore or higher in academic classification; and 3) have 24 semester hours countable toward a degree.
