CLEMSON, S.C. – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team lost a close match to Clemson, 3-2, on Saturday.

Clemson (7-3) scored three goals in the first half before Kentucky answered. UK’s Deanna Stayton opened the scoring for the Wildcats (3-5-2, 2-2 Southeastern Conference). Stayton’s goal in the 49th minute brought the Cats within two. All-SEC candidate Carrie Staber scored again for UK four minutes later. But the Cats failed to score again, giving the Tigers a 3-2 victory.

Kentucky next sees action on Friday, Oct. 9, as the Wildcats host Cincinnati.
