University of Kentucky’s junior varsity squad will play host to Campbellsville on Thursday, Sept., 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the first game of its five-game schedule. The game will be held at Commonwealth Stadium. Last season the JV Wildcats edged past the Fighting Tigers, 25-23, in Campbellsville, Ky. The UK squad, which runs the same offensive and defensive schemes as the varsity, was formed last season to give freshmen and walk-ons the opportunity to perform and showcase their skills in real game situations.

“Compared to last year we are much better,” JV head coach Chris Hatcher said. “Our basic goal is to give the guys a look at real game situations. We are going to have around 12 to 14 players from the varsity come help us and we are excited about kicking off our season at Commonwealth Stadium.”

Admission is free and fans can enter Commonwealth at Gate 7 in the Blue Lot next to Alumni Drive.
