Coaches Reviewing Season, Continuing Recruiting: The Kentucky football coaching staff will spend Nov. 24-26 reviewing game film from the 1997 season. On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28-29, the coaches will be visiting high school games as part of the evaluation period. The full contact recruiting period begins Dec. 1. Coaches may visit the schools and homes of prospective student-athletes and the prospects will continue to make official visits to the University of Kentucky campus. A maximum of seven of UK’s 10 full-time coaches are permitted to participate in off-campus recruiting on any given day.
Players Have the Week Off: The Wildcats players have the week off. They will resume weightlifting on Dec. 1.
Mumme News Conference Set for Wed. Dec. 3: After watching game film this week, Coach Hal Mumme will have his “season in review” news conference on Wed. Dec. 3 at 10:45 a.m. in the Wildcat Den at Commonwealth Stadium. In addition to reviewing the 1997 season, Mumme also will look ahead to the team’s activities prior to 1998 spring practice.
Cats in the Stats (NCAA): Kentucky is second in the nation in passing offense with 365.4 yards per game. The Wildcats are sixth nationally in total offense with 474 yards per game. UK is 27th nationally in scoring offense with 31.6 points per game.
Individually, quarterback Tim Couch leads the nation in touchdown passes (37) and passing yardage (3,884). Couch is second in total offense with 341.7 yards per game. Wide receiver Craig Yeast is tied for ninth in receptions per game with 6.6, based on his total of 73 receptions. Strong safety Tremayne Martin is tied for 22nd in interceptions with five.

Don’t Despair, Snedegar Will Be There: Linebacker Jeff Snedegar will not have to miss the 1998 season opener vs. Louisville because of his ejection in the Tennessee game. Snedegar was ejected for a personal foul, not for fighting. An ejection for fighting carries suspension, but an ejection for a personal foul does not.
