LEXINGTON. Ky. — Tim Couch passed for a career-high 428 yards and threw sixtouchdown passes to power Kentucky to a 49-14 victory overNortheast Louisiana in a non-conference game.

Couch was 34-for-43 and surpassed by 30 yards his previouscareer-best effort, set in Kentucky’s season-opening 38-24victory over Louisville. He increased his nation-leading totalsto 29 touchdown passes and 2,506 yards passing.

The six touchdown passes were one off his own school record, setagainst Indiana on September 20th. The sophomore also ran for atouchdown and was intercepted once for the Wildcats (4-3). Hefound Lance Mickelsen six times — three for touchdowns — for131 yards.

Daniel Jeremiah had a touchdown run and Jason Greins threw ascoring pass for Northeast Louisiana (2-6), which fell to 0-4against Southeastern Conference teams.

Couch got the Wildcats on the board 3:41 into the game with aone-yard scoring run before taking over with his arm. He threwa 38-yard pass to Craig Yeast and hit Jimmy Robinson with a15-yarder as the Wildcats took a 21-0 lead after one quarter.

Couch’s 33-yard TD pass to Mickelsen gave Kentucky a 28-0 leadwith 7:37 left in the second quarter. After Jeremiah’s 11-yardscoring run, Couch and Mickelsen hooked up for an 18-yardtouchdown with 51 seconds remaining in the half, giving theWildcats a 35-7 advantage.

Yeast caught his second touchdown pass from Couch, a 31-yarder,2:44 into the third quarter. The Wildcats capped the scoringearly in the fourth quarter when Couch hit Mickelsen with a41-yard pass.

Yeast caught seven passes for 130 yards for the Wildcats, whoamassed 586 yards of total offense.
