TAMPA, Fla. – Kentucky’s 2013 outdoor track and field season kicks off on Thursday as the Wildcats travel to the Bulls Invitational on the University of South Florida campus.
Thursday’s action will feature just the men’s and women’s hammer throw as well as 5,000 meters beginning at 3 p.m. ET.
The meet will feature 30 teams competing at the USF track and field stadium. Friday competition begins at 9:30 a.m.

Kentucky is coming off an indoor season, which saw the women’s team finish in a tie for 20th at last weekend’s NCAA Championships.
The result was the program’s highest NCAA Indoor finish since 1994, as the Wildcat women also boasted the highest point total (10) since 1994. The men’s team notched two points, to tie for 49th.
This week’s spring break meet in Tampa, Fla., begins an outdoor season, which will see the Wildcats host the first collegiate meet on Kentucky’s Lexington campus in more than a decade.
Kentucky will host the Heart of the Bluegrass Classic April 19-20, the inaugural meet at the new UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex.
The Southeastern Conference Championships will be hosted May 9-12 by conference newcomers Missouri.
The NCAA East Preliminary Championships are scheduled to be held in Greensboro, N.C. May 23-25, and the NCAA Outdoor Championships will take place June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
